Prior to 2022, elections in Belmont were "at large" meaning that city council members were elected by the entire city. The mayor rotated among the councilmembers each year. Now, due to changes in state law, the mayor is elected at-large, but councilmembers are elected by district. District 4 is the westernmost part of the city. It includes Belmont Heights, Plateau Skymont, Waterdog Canyon, San Juan Canyon, portions of Cipriani, and a few other areas.
Election day is November 5, 2024. The elections office should send a "vote by mail ballot" to every registered voter on about October 7. You should also receive a sample ballot and a voter information pamphlet around the same time. These items can help you research candidates and issues before you cast your vote. You can submit your ballot by mail or at an official ballot box before election day. You can also vote at an official polling place on election day.
